Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship
Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, MMUF at Rice begain in 1992. The fundamental objective of MMUFP is to increase the number of minority students, and others with a demonstrated commitment to eradicating racial disparities, who will pursue the Ph.D. in core fields in the arts and sciences.

Fellowships Advising & Service Awards Scholarships
The Center for Civic Leadership (CCL) offers holistic advising to underrepresented students interested in pursuing internally- and externally-funded fellowship opportunities that support graduate study, international travel, research, and civic engagement. Additionally, the CCL offers Service Awards Scholarships that celebrate the contributions of civically engaged students across campus and in the community.

Graduate Recruitment and Retention
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, with its objective to support and guide students by facilitating environments that promote diversity, inclusion, and academic achievement, maintains a list of myriad funding opportunities available for underrepresented populations on the doctoral level

Sharon Bush Community Building Award
Established in memory of Sharon Bush, a $500 prize is awarded in the spring of each year to a Rice undergraduate who has demonstrated exemplary dedication and leadership in building bridges across racial and cultural boundaries on campus and in the community.

Undergraduate Research Funding
The Office of Undergraduate Research & Inquiry (OURI) is a centralized office which aims to support undergraduate students by increasing research support across campus, enabling more transparent and equitable distribution of resources, and contributing to Rice’s goal of fostering an inclusive undergraduate academic culture. OURI provides multiple funding opportunities available for underrepresented populations in undergraduate research including the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF), Sustaining Excellence in Research (SER) Scholars, and conference funding.
